The Nashville Women’s Political Caucus’ (NWPC) primary goal is the full and equal participation of women in government and the political process.
Founded in 1973, NWPC works to strengthen the position of women in all aspects of political life from elected and appointed officials to voters.
LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITY
NWPC retains a professional lobbyist and works to introduce and pass legislation that promotes our goals of full participation and equality for women. When needed, NWPC also opposes legislation introduced by others that detracts from those goals. Our efforts have been especially successful in protecting women's rights in the areas of family disputes, divorces, and child support. NWPC has also played a role in creating legal protections for victims of child abuse and neglect, domestic violence and teen pregnancies.
Legislation introduced by NWPC created The Tennessee Economic Council on Women to address the economic needs and concerns of women. A complete history of NWPC legislation and legislative activity is available by clicking here.
